  • Infosys CEO Among Highest Paid In Indian IT After 22% Compensation Rise

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh’s compensation rose 21.7 per cent to 806.2 million rupees ($9.44 million), the company said in its annual report on Monday, making him one of the highest-paid Indian IT chiefs currently in office.

Mr Parekh, the longest-serving non-founder CEO at the IT company, earned a fixed salary of 79.4 million rupees and bonuses of 231.8 million rupees.

The largest portion, 495 million rupees, resulted from the chief executive of India’s No. 2 IT services firm exercising his stock options.

In comparison, Mr Parekh earned $7.9 million in 2024 and $6.76 million in 2023, with the rise in pay, mainly due to a greater number of stock options exercised during the year. For the financial year 2025, Infosys reported a revenue growth of 4.2 per cent in constant currency terms, falling short of its forecast of 4.5 per cent -5 per cent. For the current fiscal year, it forecast a flat to 3 per cent growth in revenue, signalling a weaker business environment.

India’s $283-billion IT sector is facing another year of slowing growth, partly due to the U.S. tariff policies, which complicate forecasting market conditions in key markets and client segments.

“Majority of Infosys revenue is from the U.S. and other global markets. The compensation is in line and consistent with what companies of this scale and size pay globally. Boards of Indian tech companies are indeed aware and need their leaders to be retained and paid appropriately in this challenging environment,” said K Sudarshan, managing director at executive search firm EMA Partners.K Krithivasan, CEO of Infosys’ larger rival Tata Consultancy Services earned $3.11 million, and smaller rival Wipro’s CEO Srinivas Pallia earned $6.28 million, according to their latest annual report.

Infosys is one of the two among India’s top five IT companies that have retained their CEO at the helm over the last 18-24 months, with HCLTech being the other.

The tragedy, the minister said, was avoidable.

“Celebrations is one thing, but the State government without proper planning, without taking emergency services into confidence, took this urgent and unfortunate decision… The Government is responsible for this and accountability needs to be fixed,” he added.Eleven people died as frenzied celebrations started at the stadium when RCB won the IPL after 18 years. Altogether, 27 people were admitted to the hospital. The stampede had started during the felicitation of the team and visuals from the spot showed many to be injured.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has already apologised for overcrowding at the venue.

“We had arranged more than 5,000 personnel,” he said, pointing out that “Lakhs of people came”.

“The program ended within 10 minutes. We are trying to make everything normal… This is a young vibrant crowd, we can’t use lathi,” he added.

  • “Stadium Capacity 35,000 But 2-3 lakh Turned Up”: Siddaramaiah On RCB Tragedy

Hours after 11 people died in a stampede today, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah admitted they did not expect such huge crowds to turn up at the IPL victory celebrations of RCB in Bengaluru. He expressed shock and extended condolences to the families of the 11 people. He said the “pain of this tragedy has also erased the joy of victory.”The chief minister said the IPL final match continued till late Tuesday night. The state cricket association organised the victory celebrations, and the government also planned events as part of the occasion, he said.

“The crowd turnout exceeded all expectations. Over one lakh people gathered in front of Vidhana Soudha, but no untoward incident occurred at that venue. However, the tragedy occurred at Chinnaswamy Stadium. No one anticipated this – neither the cricket association nor the government. The stadium has a seating capacity of 35,000, but an estimated two to three lakh people turned up. We did not expect such a massive turnout; we had only anticipated a crowd equal to the stadium’s capacity,” Siddaramaiah said.

Karnataka BJP chief Vijayendra Yediyurappa said Siddaramaiah is answerable for the tragedy, and alleged the ruling Congress government was interested only in publicity than people’s safety. He gave the example of how more than one lakh people turned up in the last world cup and the state government managed the crowds well.

“Was it not the responsibility of the state government to be prepared for this? More than 11 lives are lost. The chief minister should answer for this,” the state BJP chief told NDTV.
